Vital Signs for Parents, Educators & Caregivers

Although they cannot change their own story of loss, David and Jackie Siegel developed the free VITAL SIGNS program for parents, educators and caregivers to save other families from experiencing the loss of a child to overdose.

We created the VITAL SIGNS Parent Forum program to empower and mobilize communities with prevention education made more relevant and valuable through the participation of local leadership and families who can inform these discussions, share their experiences, and generate ongoing community-level support and learning.:

VITAL SIGNS teaches parents the early yet recognizable sings their children may exhibit when they are at risk of drug use or actively using. The program covers a range of risk factors:

  • Low self-esteem
  • Bullying
  • Sexual behavior
  • Alcohol
  • Marijuana and vaping
  • Drugs
  • Suicide
Forum highlights include:
  • Light food and refreshments.
  • Area panelists and local leaders in prevention, education, mental health, and law enforcement for a facilitated community discussion on the early signs of risk and substance misuse in our youth.
  • Information and resources on our national Get. Give. Save. campaign for awareness and access to lifesaving opioid reversal medications like naloxone.
