Beauty for Good

Our Beauty for Good (BFG) Ambassador Program, in partnership with the Mrs. America, Mrs. American, and Miss for America pageant systems, provides a central way for titleholders and their directors to actively support our mission.

What It MeansTo Be An Ambassador

Our BFG Ambassadors are a valuable extension of our voice. They are our entrusted messengers who share our mission, educational resources, and national initiatives with families in their state.

BFG Ambassadors advocate for us on social media to spread awareness and engagement in our initiatives and campaigns.

2

They lead live group viewings and engagement in our VITAL SIGNS education for parents and caregivers as part of our VITAL SIGNS Community Conversations Program.

3

They promote and support our live school presentation series by partnering with Michael DeLeon, Founder of Steered Straight and Director of Youth Outreach at Victoria’s Voice, to bring our drug awareness and prevention presentations to schools in their state.

4

They fundraise to help ensure the continued growth of our lifesaving mission.

Get. Give. Save.
Get Naloxone. Give Naloxone. Save a Life Today.
https://victoriasvoice.foundation/programs/get-give-save-movement

Get. Give. Save. is an ongoing national media campaign to raise awareness of naloxone, advocate for its wider availability, and reduce the stigma associated with overdose. We have designed a variety of toolkits for individuals and organizations to spread awareness of naloxone within their communities nationwide.

  1. Access your toolkit at https://victoriasvoice.foundation/programs/get-give-save-movement/.
  2. Share Get. Give. Save. on your social media and at events. Encourage people to join the Get. Give. Save. Movement.
  3. If your state does not offer free naloxone, engage your local leaders to initiate a change in policy.
  4. Educate individuals/families/businesses on what naloxone is, how to obtain it (free distribution programs and over-the-counter purchase), why it is important to have on hand, how to use it, and your legal protections if administered (every state has a good Samaritan Law).
  5. Work with local law enforcement to host a naloxone training at a community center or other public gathering site.

National Naloxone Awareness Day (NNAD)
https://victoriasvoice.foundation/events/#naloxone

June 6, the day of Victoria’s passing, has been federally designated as NNAD since 2023. Information on this year’s NNAD campaign will be emailed to all BFG ambassadors.

  1. Get ready to share naloxone FAQs in your community!
    • What is naloxone?
      • Naloxone is an opioid overdose reversal medication that has been around since the 1970s. It is commonly known as Narcan and is available as a nasal spray or injection.
    • Is naloxone safe?
      • Yes, naloxone is safe and effective. Even if it is administered to someone who is not experiencing an overdose—or is overdosing on something other than an opioid—it will do no harm.
    • Does naloxone expire?
      • Yes, naloxone expires three years from the date of manufacture. Check the box for the expiration date.
      • Naloxone is good for three years if stored properly (i.e., do not keep naloxone in a car in hot weather).
    • Can I use expired naloxone?
      • Yes, it is safe to use when expired.
      • In most cases, even if expired, the naloxone is just as effective.
      • Expired naloxone is better than no naloxone when someone is overdosing.
    • How do I administer naloxone?
    • How long does it take for naloxone to take effect?
      • Usually, naloxone will work within 2-3 minutes. However, this depends on the amount, potency, and type of drug(s) taken.
    • Can naloxone be given to children?
      • Yes, naloxone can be administered to a child.
    • Where can I get naloxone?
      • To find naloxone in your area, visit https://nextdistro.org/naloxone.
